    À tout à l’heure, by Bibio.

Single from his upcoming release Silver Wilkinson, out via Warp on 13 May.

I was hooked on this track in the first 1.5 seconds! So very, very good.

My Wes Anderson video files didn’t transfer correctly while preparing for my three-month trip, but the soundtracks are holding me over.

Lights | Josh Ritter - The Beast in its Tracks

Every heart on earth is dark half the time

I’ve reached the prime-listening phase with Josh’s new album: I’ve heard it four or five times, so it’s familiar, I know a lot of the lyrics, and I feel what he’s trying to tell us, but I haven’t worn it out yet.

  5. Shows I’ll miss due to a three-month assignment this spring:

    Sigur Rós
    The Postal Service
    Andrew Bird
    Dr. Dog
    Hey Marseilles
    Band of Horses
    Bonobo
    Paper Route
    Iron & Wine
    She and Him
    Dirty Projectors
    The Lumineers
    Frightened Rabbit
    Noah Gundersen
    Langhorn Slim
    The Black Keys
    Thycho
    Washed Out
    The Shins

    Damn it.

Within Dreams, by The Album Leaf. From their latest, A Chorus of Storytellers. Released on Sub Pop in 2010.

One last self-reblog for your New Years. This is one of my favorite songs on the planet.  I have A Chorus of Storytellers on vinyl, and it’s by far and away my most-played record in my collection.  Not because they’re my favorite band (they’re not), but because no matter how I’m feeling (happy, sad, angry, livid, confused), I can put it on and bring myself back to a more central mental place. It’s a wonderful example of how music can influence us.

Here’s to you, no matter where you’re coming from in 2012.  Cheers.

I’m really excited about Atoms for Peace. Check out Default if you get a chance. Also a huge fan of Stanley Donwood and his London View / Lost Angeles pieces.I have a project underway in the same ‘neighborhood’ that I’ll hopefully be able to show you in the next few months. Don’t wait up, it’ll take awhile.
